From the Dentist’s Mouth
(August – September 2017 Edition)
You may be thinking, “my teeth are fine, I’m not in pain, why should I go to the dentist for check-ups?”
However, regular dental check-ups are vital to maintain healthy teeth and gums. Children should be having check-ups as soon as they have at least one tooth!
A thorough dental examination checks more than just tooth decay. Your dentist will evaluate the health of your gums, check for oral cancer, any issues with acidity in your mouth, the movement of you lower jaw joints (TMJs) and even for cavities!
If any further treatment is required, your dentist will explain it to you in plain English and write out a specific treatment plan. If you have a private health fund card, our receptionists can use HICAPS to let you know what to expect your out-of-pocket expenses will be.
Early diagnosis & treatment are essential to prevent & solve major risks to dental & general health.
Something to Chew Over…
It’s that time of year when we all want to hit the refresh button and get ready for the new season and festivities to come. Coffee, tea, read meat and even soy sauce are among many things that can easily stain teeth.
With Phillips ZOOM! Whitening, which can be done right here on-site, we can lighten the colour of your teeth up to 8 shades!
PROFESSIONAL TREATMENT vs. SUPERMARKET PRODUCTS
The whitening strips and gels that you find in supermarkets and chemists are often ineffective and unsafe. If you have some dental issues (cavities, gum problems or even on medication that makes your skin sensitive) it is risky to apply an unknown substance to your teeth!
A consultation with your dentist beforehand ensures that there are no dental issues prior to whitening and to maximise the results. We can book you in for either the stronger dentist applied in-chair tooth whitening (100 mins) or take impressions for the take-home application that involves placing the whitening product in professionally made trays and wearing the “mouthguards” for about one hour for 3-5days to obtain the colour you desire.
If you have any questions at all please feel free to give us a call or drop in and our reception staff or dentists would be more than happy to talk to you further and give you some informative brochures at your convenience.
ZOOM! whitening is not recommended for you if you are: under 18, pregnant, or if you have chronic ulcerations in your mouth.
