Prevention is better than a knocked-out tooth
Did you know studies show up to 39% of dental injuries result from playing sports? The obvious issues here are chipped, cracked and even knocked out teeth. Young people and amateur athletes are at greater risk, often due to improper guidance or training on the issue of preventive professionally made mouthguards.
That’s where sports dentistry comes in. It somewhat crosses over into oral health and preventative dentistry, as well sometimes becoming an emergency service. Camp Hill Dental is highly experienced in this field. Not only do we promote preventative measures for the maintenance of a healthy mouth, but we also educate on the importance of protecting orofacial tissues and bones – specifically for those who play sports. This involves the use of a professional mouthguard, good pre-match/pre-swimming hydration and a healthy diet.
Colourful & customised fitted mouthguards
One of the best means of protecting yourself against sporting injuries is offered by a mouthguard. But we aren’t talking run-of-the-mill varieties. At Camp Hill Dental, we provide a customised fitted mouthguard that is thicker and stronger than commercially purchased alternatives. This type of mouthguard will protect the jawbones, lips and gums and may even help prevent concussion.
Our mouthguards will not interfere with breathing and are made by our in-house technician to keep costs down. They are available in a variety of colours, such as:
- Bright fluorescent
- 3D designs
- Sparkly/glittery
- Team colours, eg. school colours, Brisbane Broncos colours, or regional colours (such as ‘Easts’ or ‘Souths’)
- Single colour eg. black, purple, red, blue, green, yellow, white and clear
