Your family dentists for every stage of your life!
Infants
Life with your baby is an incredibly special and busy time. But it is important to pay attention to their teeth from a very early stage. An infant’s baby teeth will start to appear, often with the central bottom teeth first, anywhere between 4 to 10 months old. Like every developmental milestone, the point at which your baby gets their teeth is an individual thing.
Children should be having check ups as soon as they have at least one tooth. But you can visit at Camp Hill Dental long before that, especially in dealing with that tricky stage of teething. Begin with a combination of loving attention, chilled but not frozen teething rings or washcloths, and slightly chilled dummies (don’t put sugary substances on them) will help your child to settle. Medication such as Children’s Panadol and rubbing Bonjela teething gel on the sore area may be needed, so that both child and caregivers can get a good night’s sleep.
Signs of teething include:
- Flushed cheeks
- Red swollen gums
- Increased dribbling
- A slight fever
- Pulling the ear on the same side as the erupting tooth and sucking fingers and fists
Children
Camp Hill Dental is your dedicated pediatric dentist. Our gentle and caring professional team is well regarded for providing a delightful experience for young ones, and our practice is filled with child-friendly facilities. We ensure your child makes a positive association with their dentist and we educate on good oral care hygiene habits for both children and parents – to promote a lifetime of healthy dental awareness.
Teens
As your child progresses into adolescence, a whole new set of circumstances will evolve in relation to their overall health and dental care. This includes developmental and lifestyle factors and variables that arise with increased autonomy as an individual. Rely on the experienced team at Camp Hill Dental to ensure minor problems don’t progress into major ones.
Amongst an entire spectrum of concerns that may arise, we emphasise paying attention to, and provide solutions based on the following points-of-interest:
- This is an important stage of development (often when wisdom teeth start coming through) and an optimal time when irregularly aligned teeth can be corrected (orthodontics).
- It is a fact that teenagers need frequent trips to the dentist because of their ‘grazing’ patterns of eating.
- There is an increased likelihood that a range of lifestyle-based dental risks will be introduced, such as smoking, drinking, poor diet, consumption of sports drinks and the addition of oral piercings.
- There is a need for mouthguards to be used for children’s sports.
Adults
Regular dental check-ups are vital to maintaining clean healthy teeth and good overall health. This basic need persists throughout all of adult life. It’s the reason why regular six-monthly visits are widely recommended by our team at Camp Hill Dental and, of course, by the overwhelming majority of healthcare professionals.
There is a requirement to address all aspects of general dentistry. Plus, there may be an increased focus on prevalent oral health care issues and the benefits of cosmetic dentistry may come to the fore.
This may surround:
- Concern about the spread of tooth decay (cavities), which is common around fillings and between teeth.
- Apprehension about tooth wear (including toothbrush abrasion and tooth erosion).
- A sensation of tooth sensitivity, which may be intensifying.
- The desire to improve the look of your smile via tooth replacement/dental implants/veneers/orthodontics/teeth whitening.
Forever Young
Dental care for seniors follows the same approach as it does for adults. However, advancing age does present its own unique set of conditions. It’s important to realise that some things are just a result of getting older, for example, it’s natural that your teeth will discolour more as you age. The interplay of various medications can also play a role in your experience of oral health. Tooth Whitening is a solution that can help to give you a more youthful smile.
A Camp Hill Dental, we will determine the cause of symptoms and concerns and offer solutions based on your needs as an individual – at any age. In fact, we’re proud to have patients for life. This allows us to gauge a treatment plan, guided by the life-long documentation of your dental and medical health particulars. It also helps us prevent issues before they arise, so you can keep smiling long into your retirement and recreational years.
